We are the Drake brothers  

We were born on a farm in Marlboro County, South Carolina and grew up in the creeks, ocean and marshes of Charleston, South Carolina.  We’ve been building since we could walk and riding things that can cause bodily harm (dirt bikes, surfboards, wakeboards, snowboards, race karts, bulls, etc.) since we could saddle up and turn a key.  We both get up early, step on the gas and make it happen.  One of us goes to sleep at night, the other one not so much.  And yes, we have broken and continue to break lots of things (bones, bikes, windows, anvils, hearts, boards, motors and boats).  We’ve been building, breaking and re-building our whole lives. There hasn’t been a bike, surfboard or vacuum cleaner that we haven’t taken a crack at “improving”.

We started with the simple goal of building a boat that poled like a dream but could make it through the Charleston harbor without getting its passengers (us) wet.  And, it needed to look badass.  Our “simple” goal led us deep into the world of high tech composites, lot’s of battle scars , and resulted in our own proprietary, state of the art, vacuum bagged, carbon fiber, carbon/innegra, epoxy resin infused build system.  We built a custom high temp oven that allows us to post cure each part of each boat.  In short, to accomplish our “simple” goal, we utilized aerospace technology, our own revolutionary hull design, our own innovative custom build system and lot’s and lot’s of sanding.  All that added together and you get the most technologically advanced (stronger, faster, lighter) badass poling skiff ever built.  

We are fanatical about innovation, detail and quality.  Each Drake boat is created by the two of us under the ever watchful eyes of Ann (Wilds’ Golden Retriever).  We build a limited number of boats each year which ensures our attention to detail and quality standards are continuous and never ending.
